Jodie Fox - Episode 110

A multi-million dollar business, an international brand, the journey through liquidation and beyond. That’s the story of Shoes of Prey.

Jodie Fox grew up in Lismore, a country town in New South Wales, the daughter of a Sicilian mother and Australian father.

Starting out in law she took a step into advertising (and a huge pay cut) before she found her feet at Shoes of Prey.

A business that went from an idea tossed around at the beach by three friends to scrappy start-up to venture-backed global business with more than 200 staff, over $US 27 million in funding and legions of followers around the world.

A business she devoted a decade of her life to; ended up closing the door in August 2018, it wasn’t until months later, in February 2019, that the company officially went into liquidation.

Jodie has written about her experience - the highs and the bloody tough lows in her book Reboot: Probably More Than You Ever Wanted to Know about Starting a Global Business.

Jodie shares what life is like navigating the new identity as a Mum, the practical tools she uses to manage her mental health, and the lessons she has learnt along the way.

You’ll walk away from this conversation with the sense that even when life throws curve balls, anything is possible. Soak up the insights and wisdom from the life-long learner, Jodie Fox.
